Muscle Toning

WHAT IS MUSCLE TONING?

Muscle toning is a procedure performed with the specialized Slim Tone device, which is designed to supply muscle tissue with electrical current frequencies (6Hz to 4000Hz). The Slim Tone is a transcutaneous (i.e. through the skin) neuromuscular electro-stimulator with different treatment programmes for the face and body. It consists of the main micro-processed unit connected to special electrodes in the form of either soft electrical pads (for the body), or metallic spherical pens (for the face and neck).

HOW DOES MUSCLE TONING WORK?

The Electrodes of the device are placed on the motor points of each muscle group to be exercised (on the face or body). Then the selected programme is performed. Transcutaneous electro-stimulation of the muscles makes them contract/pulse in an apparent manner, thus ‘passively’ exercising the selected group of muscles. The duration of each muscle toning session is from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the treatment area and the program selected/required.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MUSCLE TONING TREATMENT?

Toning of skeletal and facial muscles through stimulated contractions assists in building stronger and more toned lean muscle tissue. This type of ‘passive’ muscle exercise improves blood and lymph circulation in the body and helps to eliminate toxins and increases oxygenation and supply of nutrients to the muscles and skin.

On the body, muscle toning assists in body contouring via targeting ‘stubborn’ localized fat deposit areas that are ‘resistant’ to other types of physical exercise, e.g. upper thighs, stomach, arms, buttocks. The muscle toning device also has a special program that assists in lymphatic drainage.

Developing better toned facial muscles (lower face) improves the definition of the jawline and overall facial contour. The traditional name for the facial muscle toning procedure is the “non-surgical face lift”. Facial muscle toning is a popular treatment for improving facial sagging of the lower face and for preventing sagging as a result of facial fat loss during dieting and the natural process of ageing.

The “Non-surgical face lift” is popular for reduction of the double chin. It can be performed as a separate treatment or in combination with VelaShape neck treatments.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MUSCLE TONING BE DONE?

It is recommended to perform muscle toning 2 to 3 times a week as an intense course until the desired results are reached. After the desired results are reached, they can be maintained with once a week or once a month treatments depending on the client’s condition and life style.

Muscle toning can be done as a separate treatment that clients can combine with regular fitness exercises to achieve their desired results in body shaping. Alternatively, it can be used as a part of more complex treatment scheme, where it can be combined with VelaShape cellulite and body contouring treatments and Presotherapy. Body shaping treatment protocols are usually tailor-made for every client individually.

Non-surgical facelifts for face and/or neck are usually performed once or twice a week for 12 sessions and then followed by maintenance treatments once or twice a month for a few months.
